Training

Traffic circuit

  • Low visibility / thunderstorms
  • Sunset
  • LFLJ → HIVE

This mission starts automatically when you switch on the flight simulator. Fly a traffic circuit, then choose your next mission.

Once around the airfield

A traffic circuit is a short loop around the airfield, starting with take-off and ending with a landing. Take off and fly straight ahead. Then turn to one side, fly back parallel to the runway and finally turn back towards the runway to land.

  • Altitude: about 1,000 ft (300 m) above ground.
  • Duration: about 6 minutes, excluding engine start and taxiing.
The traffic circuit: departure, crosswind, downwind, base and final approach.

Mission

Zombies

  • Low visibility / thunderstorms
  • 19:45 UTC / before sunset
  • LFLJ → HIVE

Prologue

The world is descending into a zombie apocalypse. The only hope for a cure lies in an aluminium case hidden in the smuggler’s compartment in this aircraft’s galley. Its contents must reach a secret laboratory.

Find the instructions in the secret case, gather your crew and start the aircraft.

Challenge

The military shoots down any aircraft trying to leave the infected area. Stay close to the ground and use the valleys to shield you from radar detection.

Weather, time and aircraft

It is foggy at 19:45 UTC, just before sunset. Leave off any lights that could give you away. Do not contact anyone by radio.

The fuel remaining in the tanks will only get you to your destination at less than 75% power.

Mission complete: land successfully and reach the parking position at your destination.

  • LIMW → Mont Blanc → LFHM

Prologue

The glacier research station has discovered some kind of “object”. They call it “The Thing”. A small group of specialists has hired you to fly them to the station. Because of the weather, your destination after dropping them off should be Megève airfield.

Your assignment

  1. Depart from Aosta (LIMW).
  2. Fly to the glacier station on Mont Blanc. Look for the yellow tents. Land there and drop off the specialists.
  3. Continue to Megève (LFHM).

Challenge

Land on the glacier as close to the station as possible. Approach Megève from the northwest. There are broken clouds at 06:45 UTC, shortly after sunrise.

Mission complete: land successfully and reach the parking position at your destination.

Afterwards, look in the tail of the aircraft for the company’s hidden cargo.

Mission

Sherpa

  • Sunrise
  • VNTR → VNLK → VNPL
  • Roleplay: about 45 minutes
  • At least 3 players / optional 4th role

Prologue

There have been no cargo or supply flights in the Himalayas for two long weeks. The weather is too bad. Now two injured climbers, Uli and Luis, urgently need to be evacuated.

No sensible crew would fly in this weather. But today Balu Cargo is heading for Lukla. Depart from the supply point in Tumlingtar on an AirMedEvac mission – a medical evacuation by air.

Your assignment

  1. Depart from Tumlingtar (VNTR).
  2. Fly directly to Lukla (VNLK) and take the injured climbers aboard.
  3. Take them to a specialist in Phaplu (VNPL).

Challenge

The weather is still bad. Remember the dangerous updraughts and downdraughts along the mountain ridges. Check the rescue box under the bench and the oxygen connection.
